Guys,
beware of immigration agencies that promise you employment
oppotunities overseas.
I just
found out by sheer coincidence that an immigration agency
in town area actually use the promise of getting their clients
employment overseas as a marketing tool. They don't assist
people to find jobs overseas at all but only help in getting
the visa documents done which could be done by ourselves
anyway.
I have
received a flyer in Orchard MRT a few weeks ago. The flyer
stated that there are employment opportunities overseas.
Out of curiosity, I have decided call up and enquire more.
The
agency that I called up asked me to drop by their company
and I thought why not since I was in town area and their
company was nearby.
I met
up with one of their immigration specialists that insist
that I have to get my PR/Visa documents done by them even
though I told them I rather do it myself before they would
assist me in looking for jobs overseas.
When
I asked more about the jobs available overseas, the immigration
specialist was unable to furnish me with more information.
Finally,
she admitted that their core business was actually based
on assisting with the PR/Visa papers rather than helping
people find jobs overseas.
On my
way out of the agency, which was looks rather run down by
the way, I bump into an old colleague of mine who was working
in a different company in the same building as them.
My ex-colleage
told me that this agency has a funny management and have
seen so many staff coming and going. Their staff turnover
is extremely high and that they only assist in getting the
PR/Visa papers done.
I felt
cheated. I mean if your company only assist clients in getting
the visa done, why advertise that they have "employment
opportunities overseas"? They shouldn't use it as an
advertising tool to get more clients.
Next
time, if you receive such a flyer promising employment opportunities
overseas, just ignore it! It's bascially a load of crap!
Jacob
Well, it does sound too good to be true, isn't it? I have
received a flyer like that in Orchard too. I just threw
it away.
The flyer states employment opportunities in western countries
like US, UK, Australia etc. How could it be possible for
us Asians to find a good professional jobs over there when
the unemployment rate in those countries averages at least
around 8%? I am sure they give preference to their own people.
Sad to say, dude! You have been duped!
hughh
In a way, yes! It was a total waste of my time. But i didn't
sign on with them. It's so dumb! Those PR /Visa papers can
be so easily done by ourselves. Why pay a few thousands
dollars to get someone else to do it when we can just download
the same forms over the internet?! I think this is why they
have to come up with such advertising tools to tell people
that they have employment opportunities overseas. It is
a scam, if you ask me.
daisy
Well, I doubt a successful agency would need to give out
flyers on the streets to get customers. That should tell
you guys something is wrong already.
Obvious
Immigration agency is not an employment agency. Obvious!
They do not have the means to do so.
Pansy
Well, I am not surprised that such a company existed. In
my past 10 years' of working experience, I have come across
companies who use unethitical means to get customers. Just
don't take everything at face value so that you won't be
cheated.
ha ha ha
Immigration agencies are a total waste of space! anyone
can just download the forms over the internet and fill it
up themselves! ha ha ha!
Been there
I think I know which agency you are referring to, the one
in town area. I have received such a flyer promising job
opportunities in western countries like Australia, US etc.
I even met up with one of their specialists too. Like hughh,
they insist that I must get the PR and Visa documents done
by them before they would help me get a job overseas.
But looking at the company and the way the specialist handle
the entire meeting, things just don't seem to add up.
They only seem to be interested in getting the PR documents
done. I don't think they can help us to find jobs overseas
at all even though they claim otherwise.
marketing
Well, they are shrewd to use the current job crisis at their
marketing tool. But I am sure there are tell-tale signs
that the agency is not capable of getting jobs overseas.
For example, the run-down surroundings of the agency, the
presentation made by their specialist etc.
Many companies claim that they have many overseas branches.
It is easy to set up tiny offices overseas and hence creates
the illusion that the company is a "big global company".
hughh
The agency I have been to is located in town area. They
give out flyers in Orchard and other places too.
The agency I have been too is really crap! There is no intention
for by them to get us a job overseas yet they claim to do
so. They only do the PR & Visa papers which could be
done ourselves!
Sigh
Such immigration agency is a scam! I wouldn't believe that
immigration agencies are able to get us jobs overseas when
there are high unemployment rates for their own people especially
in western countries like Australia, Canada, US!
Pansy
Just ignore those stupid flyers. Singapore is having a job
crisis now. If they really provide job opportunities overseas,
they need not resort to flyers. They will be overwhelmed
with response.
The crux of this is that they only use it as a marketing
tool to get customers. What the agency really does is only
getting the visa or PR papers done. Don't take everything
people say at face value.
Insider
Ha ha, I can't believe this. Someone has finally revealed
the scam of this immigration agency located in town area.
What hughh said is completely true. I shan't comment much
in case I get into trouble, but trust me, all he said is
very true.
